Get Ready to Cringe

by Nick Morgan

Depressing news on the music culture front: Billy Corgan (of Smashing Pumpkins) will soon release a book of poetry. If Corgan's verse is anything like his song lyrics....

    (Despite all my rage
I am still just a rat in a cage)

... we're in for a shame-fest of rock star posturing as spiritually conflicted visionary. Jim Morrison's poems were generally bad, but at least most of them made no sense. Hopefully Corgan's will enjoy the same virtue. Look out, Chicago.

In other poetry news, Michael Madsen has a book of poetry as well. To jog everyone's memory, he was the actor who cut off the guy's ear in Resovoir Dogs, and is also in Kill Bill v.2.

I prefer to think of Madsen as the guy from the Free Willy movies. He cut off Willy's dorsal fin at the end of the sequel.
